Success!!

I finished something.
This is the first block from the
"Have a Jolly Little Christmas" sew a long
hosted by Sew Fresh Quilts

Of course this also means that I started something else, but it is colorful.
It is not black or white!!!!
Good-bye January--you went far too quickly.

Plodding Along

Feels like I have not gotten very much done this month, but I keep at it.
Still working on black cats and white petals.
I seem to have a thing for black cats. I pulled this very old BOM out so that I could get some handstitching done on it.

I have a feeling I am missing a couple of these. Actually I am hoping I have misplaced them because I only have 10 and that does not work out well in rows. I have a feeling that I didn't finish them all, so I need to go on another scavenger hunt.
They go well with my other black cats.

I am on the last set of black cats, so hopefully soon I can start on the patchwork ones. Progress!!!
And another "hopefully" is that I will show you something completed with these colors soon.

So, off I go to accomplish more stuff!!!
Hope everyone is having the best day ever!!!!

Fabric Hunting

OK, decided to be insaner and start collecting fabric for another BOM.
Couldn't help myself when I saw the Spring on Bleeker Street SAL over at Ivory Spring.
So, I messed around for awhile trying to find similar colors to the original and I failed miserably.
So, I went spaz and picked a couple of giant handfuls of fat quarters and I will go from there.

I had a little helper in my fabric selecting and sadly he was not the one making the biggest mess.
I can either sew or have a neat sewing room--I cannot seem to have both.

Hope everyone is having a wonderfully messy, creative day.

Balance????

I was naughty and bought some new goodies.
They just pulled at me and I had to give in.

These have a specific purpose even if I will attempt to not start it anytime soon.

These, I just liked. Definitely won't be the last time that happens.
And Witt got a new box.
Slightly smaller than his last one, but he is making it work.

The quilt behind him is on my finish soon list.
It is actually the second quilt that I ever made.
This was back in 2004 or 2005? Help me Joy
No fence rails for me--I jumped into the class in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia when they were doing stratta quilts (my first one) and crazy paper piecing (the one above).
Scarily enough, after having to take the whole thing apart and putting it back together, I actually really enjoy doing paper piecing.
I just need to decide if I want to put borders on it.

I did more than unpack goodies today.
I finished stitching all of the petals I was working on.
They still need to be trimmed and turned, but after trying really hard to make them round--I think that will be the easy part.

They are #2 on my UFO list and a gift.

Also added some more parts to the patchkats.

Started feeling a bit more confident with the directions and immediately made a few boo boo's that needed to be unpicked.
That will teach me. Time for relaxing.

Hope everyone had some time to be creative!

Treasures

Did some sewing today, but I didn't get any great photos.
Black cats and white petals.
Lots and lots of petals.

Yesterday, I didn't get any sewing done because we went out treasure hunting at an antique mall that I had not been to yet.
I know--weird---but there are still some out there.
Came home with some functional goodies.

I fell in love with these and I will use them. They will replace some seriously newer cookware that just has not held up well at all. Out with the new--in with the old???
Also came home with these two:

And thank you Di for the purple butterfly towel.
I will probably veg and watch football the rest of the day.
Hope everyone had an awesome weekend.

More Sewing Less Thinking About What I Can't Eat!!!

So the doctor said my Blood Pressure is too high, my cholesterol is too high, my ulcers are acting up and on and on and on...
When you total those three things up you can't eat anything
or it has absolutely no flavor.
I started the day "containing" all things containing sugar and tossing all salty snacks that only I liked.
I can't be mean to the rest of the household, but I am tired of getting another pill every time I go to the doctor.
I have to go back in a month for the BP check, so very little salt and a nice10 pound loss is my goal.

So, I hit the sewing room to avoid the kitchen and got this done.

Not sure if Witt was trying to show off how big he is or how small this block is, but he was being a little too picky with his inspections.

It is a 6 inch block. I picked one of the many from The Splendid Sampler by Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson.
I am starting on the

at soscrappy. I seem to be having an issue getting the button link in my sidebar. I am sure I am doing something wrong.
I was just happy that the year started with purple.
Might try to get organized and pick my colors out ahead of time. Oooooh! Scary!

I also worked on the second set of black cats and I did some more sorting of UFO's.
I need to work on these because they are presents:

They don't look very exciting now, but hopefully soon I can give a sneak peek. I know sis checks in on my blog once in awhile, so it will be a small peek.
And I need to work on this and that and those and oh dear. I still haven't chosen one to finish for the month and I realize it is already the 12th. Time needs to slow down a bit.
So a wisping I will go!

Birds, Berries and Black Cats

The snow stopped, but not much melting has been happening today. The high was around 28. Back down to 13 now.
The birds are enjoying the feeders scattered around the house.

Of course Witt was enjoying all the activity out there.
He was running back and forth between all the windows.

I really liked this holly tree. Just like the cardinals, red berries look so pretty in the snow.

The wind was blowing quite a bit, so a lot of the snow fell off, but I still like it.
I did manage to get some actual sewing done in between all the normal chores.
I finished the first set of black cats.

One more set of black ones to go and then on to the two sets of patchwork ones. They are all different colors.

Oh yeah, there will be hearts. And vines. I am still not sure if I love the color of green that I picked for the vines, but I don't need to worry about that yet.

And just a little cool pic of the measuring cup that hubby surprised me with for our anniversary.

Yeah, on top of collecting fabric and books, I also collect green glass. Yeah, I need a bigger house!!
Too bad I would have to clean it!!!
Hope everyone had a safe and sew-y weekend.

What are you doing today??

This is what we are doing so far this morning.
It is still snowing and probably will be for several more hours.

The birds are happily eating, but as you can see--the building of the new garage has come to a screeching halt.
Fortunately there is still plenty to do in the sewing room, and no snow in there unless you count some snowflake fabric. I am sure there is some of that up there somewhere.
Hope everyone here in the storm area is staying home and staying safe and warm.

For now I am loving it!!!

Progress!!!

I made it into the sewing room and was somewhat productive time. I did not get any real sewing done, but I got lots of rearranging and unearthing accomplished.
I have to say that being up there just made me happy.
All of my favorite things are there.

Lots of fabric, sweet Wittersheim and books!!!
We have lost many of our furry friends over the last two years and Witt is our new addition.
He (ha ha ha) keeps Squeaks company.

I think I have sorted out my UFO's. I went back through all the tubs and piles and my final count seems to be 77!!!
Oh my!
This one is sitting on the table in progress:

It is called PatchKats by Denise Russart.
Many, many, many pieces.

Actually, it is twice many, many, many pieces because I am making two. One for me and one to donate to the Humane Society. Fortunately they don't care what year I get it to them.
Do not look at the mess in the background too closely. I am getting there!!
Work and doctor's appointments are going to get in the way for the rest of the week, but I will get more done this weekend.
I will, I will, I will!!!!

OK
I have decided not to beat myself up about not blogging forever or not sewing enough.
Life will always find a way to hinder.
Instead 2017 will be my year for baby steps.
Blog as much as I can, sew as much as I can and not sweat it too much when I can't.
This is all supposed to be fun--is it not!!!
Today laundry will share my time with trying to figure out those pesky UFO's, so 1 2 3 Go!!!
I will see how far I get!!!
Happy New Year everyone!!!
