It Takes a Long Time to Raise a Village

Anybody remember this BOM from 2009 (I think)?
Many, many moon's ago in a land far far away (we lived in Australia then),
I started this one and many more.

It has lots of parts, and now I am finding out that the construction of these many parts takes just as much concentration as making the blocks to begin with.
I am trying to only work on it when I can give it my full attention.
I love that star block--keep thinking that somewhere down the line I should make a quilt using them.
Keep thinking Alice! Maybe after I finish the other dozen or so UFOs that I started that year.
Joy and I were very energetic back then, we must have started at least 8 or 10 BOMs and actually kept up with them.
One good thing--I can actually see how much better my sewing skills are getting.
I am having to do some pulling, tugging, redoing and unpicking to make it fit.
Not to say I don't still do those things, but when I do it is usually a brain rot moment.

The arm is feeling good some days and bad others, so I overdo on the good days as usual.
Trying to put this place back in order. Always one more thing that needs doing.

And for Marti and Fiona waiting for me to mail their prizes--these went into the mail yesterday...

Concrats and enjoy!

Hope you are all having a great Friday and have lots of fun stuff planned for the weekend.

Back Among the Moving

My arm that is. Not sure what I did to it, but for the last week I could not lift my left arm without cringing. Stress and TKD and too much texting.
Who knows, but I am moving it slowly and I have gotten a bit of stuff done.

I finished the top for the Wiggly Whimsy SAL at Terry's Treasures.
WOO HOO!!!!!

Slightly far away I know. Here is a shot of it hanging over the ironing board.

Not a great shot either--too much cloudy weather around here lately. When I get it quilted I guarantee the sun will shine, so it will be better.
When I was outside trying to get a good shot, I happened to spot my happy banana pepper plant.
Guess what--it wasn't looking so happy!!

There were 6 of these naughty caterpillars chowing down. They not only ate the leaves, but they scarfed down the peppers as well. Hungry Hungry Caterpillars!!!

Not a happy girl. We popped them in our grow a butterfly cage.
We shall see what they turn into--that is if they ever stop eating long enough.
Now fingers crossed that my poor plant comes back to life because I was using them in everything. Yummy!!

I am working on a few other projects too, so I will show more later.
Golden Oldies have come out of the closet and a couple of piles of fabric have been selected for new projects. That balances out right????
Hope everyone is having a day full of sewing!!!

Progress Report

Anyone hot????
Ugh! Moving in slow motion, but I am moving.
My sewing room is at least 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house, so I am running in and out. Not fair!!
Anyway, I have managed to finish 100-patch block number 2.

My little kitty is tucked in a corner.

Or should I say, my little big cat.
I have also located my half square triangles that I need to create a border for my Pineapple Blossom quilt. So, I have started turning these piles

into these.

I have a lot more to go!
My plan is to start getting some of my bits and pieces all put together.
Some finishes would be nice. That would make me feel much more productive.

Speaking of--my garden is being pretty productive.
Guess what we have been having for dinner????

Now, you would think I would lose a couple of pounds?????
Need to be a lot more productive in that department as well.
So, off I go to get something done.
Stay cool everyone!!!!!

WISP-ing Along On Many Things

I have finished sewing all of my Wiggly Whimsy strips for Terry's SAL.

and I started on 100-patch block number 2. Took a break when Murphy sent them flying across the table.

Working on these blocks started another burst of organizing in the form of sorting.
I am busy turning piles that look like this,

into lots of little piles that look like these:

That started me taking the larger scraps and sorting them into colors.

And then stuffing them into shoe box sized containers. I need bigger boxes!!

Oh, I forgot--there was more cake!!!!!!!!! This one was made by my sweet hubby!

And like all the others the eating of the cake was not considered WISPY at all, but I am extremely caked out for now. No birthdays coming up soon, so that is a good thing.
Hope everyone is staying cool and getting lots of sewing done.

Hanging With The Clan

Hope everyone is having a safe and relaxing holiday weekend.
Prayers to all the people evacuating their homes and firemen battling all the fires out west.
We spent Thursday with my mom and sister celebrating the 4th and Mom's belated birthday.

Free to have fun, eat MORE cake and sew!!!!!!
