Made It!!!

At least I got my pink blocks done.
It has been a crazy month with being gone a week, extra hours at work and lots of Humane Society hours. Not  that I am complaining about those. It just all takes away from the sewing room.
So, here they are:

Pink was never my favorite color, but I have seen some super cute creations this month in blogland.
May have to rethink some pink in the future!

I also managed to get my fairy garden somewhat decorated for fall. So far it is more decorated than my house.

I still have to put my tiny little fall leaves in there and then we need to figure out where to put it when the snow starts falling.
Well, hopefully the snow will fall.
I am such a child when it comes to snow.
In the mean time, I need to decorate my house for fall because silly me decided that I should host Thanksgiving at my house this year!!!
Best way that I know of to be sure that I have plenty of leftovers right??????????

I do have to find time to make Witt a Christmas bed out of this fabric that he picked out.

He thinks that it is very cozy!!!

OK, off to work I go.
We are putting up Christmas decorations at work today.
I am getting a little stressed!!!!!
I am wearing my pumpkin earrings just to keep it all in perspective.
Hope you are all having a great weekend.

Where Have I Been?

We took a trip to visit the fam in Indiana and the weirdest thing happened????
I ended up here

and here

and a few dozen more shops!!
What do you think, a bit excessive???

I think not!!! I probably won't talk hubby into a side trip to Lancaster Co again for a very long time. Well, unless Joy comes to town and then it is going to be grab the bud's and then road trip time!!!

I will show more pics soon, but if I don't get busy sewing, hubby might send it all back.
That would be tragic!!
Besides, I am so behind on everything.
Hope you are all having a safe and creative day!!

I Have Done a Little More!

Once again this month is going far to quickly.
100 days until Christmas is not making me happy.
Too much to do and not enough time to do it.

I did get the second blue bird block prepped for Bleeker Street. I know we will be starting the next block soon.

We are going to be driving to Indiana soon, so hopefully I can get a lot of hand stitching done while we are away.
Hopefully!!!

I also got the last two Patchkats done for quilt number 1.
This one was going to be mine, but I am also running out of time to get the one done for the Humane Society auction, so it may have to be theirs.

There is still about a gazillion little mini hearts for the border to be made, but I will get there.
My piles are sorted nicely so that I can at least whip the middle together. It is going to be a large quilt, can't remember if it is queen or king. I will have to figure that out.

Hope the sun is shining on everyone and lots of sewing is getting done.

Orange Stuff

I have been spending a lot of time watching the Weather Channel this week because Irma is going to be messing with a lot of my friends and my goddaughter in Florida.
Lots of prayers and good wishes are definitely going that way. I am sure that we will get some extra moisture from it here in Virginia as well, but nothing like they are experiencing.

In between watching the storm, I have managed to get some sewing done.
Some orange sewing done.

These just make me smile. They are super bright and cheery.

Over the long weekend, DH and I went to the Norfolk Botanical Garden to get our walking in and I had to take some more orange pictures along the way.

This is part of a giant wildflower field that I just love.

It is also butterfly time at the garden.
This guy decided to pose for us.

I did some more sewing and some shopping also.
Witt was happy about that last one.
He took over both boxes.

More photos tomorrow.
I hope everyone is somewhere safe and dry.

Old and New

I know--I am not supposed to be starting new things, but I have been good for such a long time.
And I did work on getting my WIP's done first.

I finally decided on colors for the bird blocks for Bleeker Street. Yes, blocks--I totally forgot that there were 2 of them.

These are kind of scary because the stems are so thin, but I will plug along. I really like the fact that this quilt is pushing me out of my comfort zone. Just have to take my time.

And I also cut out my orange block for the rainbow challenge.
I was so happy that it was orange because I had some already picked out.

I have one more combo to cut out and then I will get busy on these.

Now, for the new stuff.
I dug into my pile of Christmas fabrics that I picked out and prepped the first block in the Holly Cottage quilt.

Not sure if you can see the little stitchery, but it is going to be a sweet little birdie that is going right in the center of the stocking. This will be another project that I have to work slowly on. Why you ask??? I already had to redo the applique pieces because they were facing the wrong way and I refused to start the quilt off with a boo boo!!

And new project number 2 is going to be one of the awesome pineapple quilts that everyone is making.
So far, mine looks like this:

This one will go fairly quickly once I get everything cut out.
Need to figure out the background and grab some green scraps and I will be good to go.

So, I have lots to keep me busy. I really needed to get a lot of prep work done ahead of time so that I could get things done on the days that I have to work.

Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend.
Prayers to everyone that has been affected by Hurricane Harvey.

It's Happening Again!!

Another month is flying by and I am not far enough along on my to do list.
I am going to have to skip straight to the Christmas gift list soon, or I will be in trouble.
At least I have gotten the Have a Jolly Little Christmas top almost complete.
 Woo Hoo!!!

My quilt holder is a little crooked. And there seem to be fingers popping out of the corners. Oh well, at least he is tall enough.
This picture is actually brighter, but the inspector refused to move.

He finally wore himself out and took a nice comfy (?) nap on a rock!

To each his own.
I spent some time while he was napping picking out colors for the next Bleeker Street block, the first Holly Christmas Cottage block and cutting some yellow squares for pineapples.
Hmmmmm--I think that I am supposed to be finishing things--not starting new ones, but where would the fun in that be??
I will get there.
Hope everyone is having a great week!

Weekend Blocks and Learning Bad Habits

Dreary weather is OK for sewing.
I have finished 2 neutral blocks for the Rainbow Challenge.

I did redo my moose. I am much happier with him now.
Still have no idea what I did the first. Just Ugh!!
I seem to spend a lot of time redoing lately.

I'm also working on the butterfly and other stitching on the birdhouse block for Bleeker Street.

And what bad habits you ask?
Well, Miss Good Girl Squeaks has obviously been paying way too much attention to her younger, naughty brother.
I found her in one of his spots,

and then she made a big old mess of her own without any instruction from her brother.

Needless to say, I have been doing some tidying today.
Not all of it has been caused by my furry friends, but they are certainly adding to it.

For now--it is laundry and NASCAR.
Hopefully, I will get some backgrounds for some applique blocks cut out later.
Hope  everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

Neutral Colors

These fabrics will soon be rainbow challenge blocks. Witt makes everything a challenge, but he is cuddly so I let him be.

I think my Moostle Toe block falls into the neutral category as well.

I think he is kind of cute now. When I was unpicking parts of him, I was not so sure!!
My old lady Squeaks is too dark to fall into this category, but she did make it up three whole stairs so that she could keep and eye on my comings and goings.

She is practicing to be a speed bump! She really is brave because I am a klutz!

We are having thunderstorms right now, but nowhere near as bad as they are having in other parts of the country.
I hope you are all safe no matter where you are.

August Activity

There was a lot of activity in the sewing room today.
Pulling this, cutting that, hunting for other things.
I did do some actual sewing.
I got the main part of the birdhouse block for Spring on Bleeker Street done.

I need to do the butterfly applique and some stitching and it will be good to go.
Also finished cutting out the moose for Have a Holly Jolly Christmas over at Sew Fresh Quilts

Just a pile of moose bits at the moment, but Saturday will be here soon right????
And then I collected a pile of stuff for August neutrals for the rainbow challenge.

Not much actual cutting out there yet, but I am ready to go.
I got distracted by a giant pile of Christmas fabric.
I pulled this pile.

It is a start for this quilt a long that Joy is hosting.

I know--I am starting something else, but look how cute it is.
And I am finishing up the other Christmas quilt soon.
Well, at least I am finishing up the top. That counts right???
I have found a whole bunch of other things that I want to do lately as well, but I am trying to control myself.
I know there is a pineapple quilt in my future.
I also have a million UFO's screaming at me.
I am guaranteed not to be bored at least!
Happy in my insanity!!!

Bye Bye July!!

Sewing has been a challenge this month with all the extra time at work, but I did not do too badly.
Took a quick picture of all my finishes.
Quick, because nothing wanted to stay on the wall.

I forgot to put all of the pinwheels up there that I did for my Bleeker Street quilt, but hopefully soon I can get a picture of all of my progress to date.

These are my most recent finishes:

One more after this one--the mistletoe moose and then I can put it all together. Woo Hoo!!

And a gray kitty!!

Two more for the first quilt and then I can start putting it all together. I was going to do both at the same time, but I decided to do one to make sure I liked the locations of all of the left and right facing kitties before I did the second one.
These are definitely an ongoing project!!

There will be another project starting soon.
As soon as I sort through ridiculous amounts of Christmas fabric. Too many choices.
Because the fact that I have 88 UFO's that I have been ignoring, is no big deal right?????
Stay cool everyone!!

What I Did Today

I woke up and hit the sewing room hard.
Can't believe the end of July is coming up soon.
So, I made two cats, a reindeer, a rainbow block and 3 complete pinwheels.
There is a pile of cut out pinwheels that will hopefully get worked on this week.

One more long week at work and then maybe I will get more done. We shall see.
Witt got a new kitty TV, so he shares time between the sewing room and his window in the bedroom now.
It was really hot out today--I think even the birdies were hiding.

Hope everyone is staying cool and if you are somewhere that is cool--could you send some my way please?

Slow Blue Sunday!

Can't believe it is the 9th already.
I lost June altogether and now July is running away too.
I did manage to get two blue rainbow blocks done today.

And I finished the rest of the blocks I was working on for Bleeker Street.

I have a lot of stitching to do before this month's progress report for Bleeker Street, so I need to keep it handy at all times.
Also worked on some of my kitties and I have more rainbow blocks and my reindeer cut out for Holly Jolly Christmas.
Hoping that with everything prepped, I can get some things done with all of my extra work hours.

My helper was not very helpful today.
He ended up moving everything out of his way and taking a nap right where there used to be a neat pile of fabric.

No one told him that I didn't need help making messes. I can do that all by myself.
And usually do!!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Sometimes...

...being confident is not a good thing.
I figured my next Christmas block would go much more smoothly than the ornaments. I had already done the more difficult version before--another boo boo--but not one that had to be redone.
So, I am flowing right along and boom:

Did the diagonal backwards. I cut out all new pieces and redid it the right way!

And then, I finally turned it into a bow.

I also worked on Bleeker Street for awhile.

I may be working on it forever. I do really like it, but I am doing a lot of things that I am out of practice on, so I am going slowly. No over confidence here!!!!

For now--I must go to work. Hopefully I can sneak so ME time in between work hours for the next four days!!??
Hope everyone is having a great week!!

Seriously Slow Sunday Sewing!!

Not sure if I was sleeping when I cut out the pieces to my ornament block or what, but boy did I do a lot of unpicking.
A lot of pulling, tugging and re-cutting out of pieces too.
So, my to do list did not shrink much.

Hopefully today will go smoother and I get more done, because it is back to work tomorrow.
At least my supervisor wasn't too hard on me.
He kept an I on me for awhile.

Then I think he got tired of the not so lady like words coming out of my mouth and fell asleep.

Today will be a better day!!!!
The sun is shining and the birds are singing!!!
Happy Monday everyone!

Yelow!!

I really did finish it on Scrappy Saturday.
So, I will make it Post It Sunday.

And here are all of the finished ones. There are also quite a few piles of cut out and partially put together blocks in all colors waiting to be added to this.

I seemed to be on a roll with aqua and yes, I do have several more purple ones cut out!

And I finally finished cutting out my next Christmas block.
You can see why it took awhile.

My supervisor was being seriously critical today.
He is napping now, so I should probably try to get some more done!!
Hope you are all enjoying a fun weekend with family, friends and/or your sewing machine!!
