Last Thoughts of Indy

Vacation already seems like ancient history.
Never long enough!
Here are a couple more of the quilt gardens that we saw on the Heritage Trail.
These are also history now as I think they were only up through Oct 5th.

There were also lots of murals scattered about.

Even the coffee shop has a 9-patch on their sign.

Now for the rest of the purchases. This was one of the fun places I shopped.

I can't remember what I bought here; that is really sad, but here are all of my goodies.

That food one is for a new point of view. Hubby was born in the Midwest so thought I might find something in there that would make him say Mmmmmmmm!
Like the one on the cover. OMG!
So, I have been reminded so many times lately how soon Christmas will be here so I had better stop fighting with these photos and go use some of the things that I bought.
Sew, Sew, Sew!!!!
It is windy and rainy out there--I think it is the perfect sewing weather as long as the power stays on.
Happy Wednesday everybody!!

More Travel Musing

We took a real live walk. A mile out and a mile back.

OK, here is your hidden picture (I miss those). This guy was chirping away but didn't run away.

The family threw a surprise belated graduation party for Garion while we were there.
His Aunt Janet made the cake.

Spoiled child--cards full of money!

Then we left the boy with the cousins--he got to go to real school.
I got to go look at quilt gardens and all things Amish.

They start these at the end of June, so they are a bit overgrown now but still cool.

This is a cute little Amish owned shop called Little Helpers in Shipshewana. They did not have fabric because they sold beatiful handmade quilts--I did scrutinize.
I did drool and feel inadequate!
They do however sell lots of other goodies.

I got the Every Barn Tells a Story there. The mini-mosaic book I got in Lowery's Sewing Center. Their store front is nothing to look at but it takes up most of a small strip mall in Warsaw and they used their funds on merchandise instead of curbside appeal. Very fun store.
But I got distracted--back to the Little Helpers.

Got this small quilt hanger and a long one (which I forgot to take a photo of).
DH asked where they were made and the girl said her grandfather made them.
Furthering questioning about whether they were local and came to find out he lived two houses down.
So real Amish woodworking instead of an Amish design mass produced in a factory.
We also bought large jars of the jelly that we bought small jars of last time we were in Indiana. Yummy!
OK, I am quitting for now.
1. I am having to download every picture twice before it will appear--Grrrr!!!
2. And most important--I have to get in the sewing room or else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
More later!

Driving to Indy

You know how sometimes driving long distances can be really, really boring.
Well, this trip had some amusements.
Starting with the weather.
This had me sort of clenching the armrests a lot:

But then we started having all these cool clouds to look at.
I should have let DH take pictures while I drove because a lot of mine are bad, bad some are not horrible.

Weird rolls of clouds that really did look like cotton and two different color sky amused me.
It was gray to the left and this:

...on the right. And then a little later:

It got really foggy after that and the giant tractor trailers didn't quit, so we did for the night.
Woke up to pretty skies.
We did a U-turn to check out this little war memorial in a tiny town (and no I can't remember the name)

We found all kinds of fun stuff.

They didn't finish this sign. I think it should be Needmore Chocolate or maybe by the time we saw it, it should be Needmore Coffee.
That is enough for now--I have to get back to laundry and putting the house together after being gone. Monday morning will be here way too soon.
More things Amish to come later.

No Sewing Going On--Boo Hoo!

Trying to get ready to go on vacation and this:

has kept me out of the sewing room.
That smile was not there when he was sparring and got in the way of a fast moving kick.
But now that he has his very first broken bone, a cool cast and pain meds, all is well.
At least the part where he is not allowed to use it at all.
That will last until he has video game withdrawals.
I am going to take some hand work with me to Indiana so hopefully I can get something done.
Napping sounds good!
Someone sew for me!

More Accomplishments

I have been working on the Pennsylvania blocks that Terry started as a SAL.
This may be a present if I get enough done.
I do have a bunch more cut out.

I seem to be having trouble with colors lately and the camera. The reds don't look very red here.
Not sure how big this one is going to be yet. It will depend on how many scraps I have.
I also finished another 100-patch.
These are not as mindless as they look I have come to realize.
If you iron something the wrong way you have some serious issues.
Of course I wouldn't know anything about that?????

I think Murphy approves. In you hadn't noticed he has to be the center of attention.
We also accomplished quite a bit for the Humane Society yesterday.
3 dogs and 4 puppies got new forever homes, including this little cutie:

And DH was busy helping out at the society office doing yard work and stuff.
Then we give Garion the golden scoop award because we had to go over to the other store and take care of our babies there.

Yes, I have a favorite. This is Night Ranger and he is a little purr pot.
He better get adopted soon--soooo cuddly.

So, today hopefully will get some sewing done.
My Redskins are losing and there is a rain delay for the NASCAR race and poor hubby had to sit in traffic for 45 minutes to get to the model airfield cause they are working on the road.
Thinking maybe I should do laundry instead--better to turn underwear pink then have to unpick stuff.
Hmmmmm????
Hope everyone is having a great Sunday!

WOO HOO!!!!!!!

I have finished the Harmony Village quilt!!!
After many frustrated moments, lots of unpicking and a few choice words, it is all in one piece.

The colors are much brighter than this and I will try to get one when the sun is shining, but I was so excited that I had to put it on here.
Happy Dancing!!!

Strange Sightings in the Neighborhood

Spotted across the street from our house:

He usually hangs out near the little farmer's market not far from here.
He even has his own trailer. Not sure, but he maybe a Travelosaurus.

After that I sent the boy out to get some squash from the garden.
He came back empty handed because of these:

I still haven't gotten my squash, but the guys brought fish and chips home for dinner (nice of them) so I can worry about spiders tomorrow.

A not so strange sight--new fabric.
All the fall and Halloween fabrics were on sale so a bunch came home with me.

And then these just made me happy. I think some of them were on sale.
And I could not pass up white on white end of bolt deal could I????

Now, for once there has been some real live sewing going on, but I don't like my pictures very much so I am going to take new ones.
They will be coming soon.
Hopefully there will be at least one trick or treat bag photo soon too.
Need to make one for my goddaughter and I want to make it big enough that she can use it for a book bag for the season.
I need to hurry up on that one.
So, I must sew.
Hope everyone else is getting lots done.

Taking A Break From The Village

Literally

I broke it on the first try--can you say "Happy Kicker"????
And permission to throw DS around

Hubby and I got our next belt on Friday night and we also had to say Good-Bye to our Tae Kwon Do master who is going back to Korea to spend time with his mom.

Garion tested last month and is still one belt ahead of us.
I thought his t-shirt was funny for the picture.
Do we look like a zombie attack team???

I also started making some Pennsylvania blocks for Terry's SAL
This is a great break from all of the boo boos that I have been making and unpicking on the Harmony Village quilt.

One

and two

Murphy decided I needed help picking out the background for the next block.
There is one more all laid out ready for me to sew up and then I really should unpick the last block from the village that sent me screaming off to a new project.
Concentration!!!!
Ha Ha Ha!!!!!
