Would Someone Please Return February Cause I Have Only Finished One Thing So Far

Short or not, it just does not seem possible that this month is almost over. I need a couple of more weeks please!!!!!
I have been somewhat productive in some areas considering that we all started out sick and achy. It just went on forever. We were going to give our awards banquet for Tae Kwon Do a pass because we just felt icky, but at the last minute we all got decked out,

and had a really good time. And to my total amazement we got called to the front of the room to receive this:

and yeah--they spelled our name wrong, but doesn't everyone????
I thought it was pretty cool. Of course this year has started off with one sick Ihnen after the other so, we have not been there in total family mode but I think it is getting better.
We also took a trip over to my mom's house a couple hours west of here because she was not feeling well. Of course we dragged her out of the house also and did some antiquing and fabric-ing (is that a word?) and lunching.
I scored a few bits, but I will start with a couple for now.
There is this awesome quilt store in Midlothian called Quilters Corner and I get a little carried away since we never really go that often.
I fell in love with these two fabrics:

This one is a bad pciture, but I love the little hedgehog. What is not to love about a purple hedgehog???

and I got this free, because I spent so much money. Yep, there will be more pictures in the future.

But for now, ta da!!!! I have finished February's strip for Terry's Sew Along in FEBRUARY!!!!
An amazing feat really!!!!

And for now, I will say bye bye because I have to finish Di's Challenge in the next week!
Wish me luck and I hope everyone is happily meeting their goals or better yet just happily sewing with no stress whatsoever!!!!

Snow and Sew

You are supposed to be doing English!!!!
But Mom!!!!
School got interrupted today for sure!
But I am just as big a kid, because I was just as easily distracted.

It sounds so nice and quiet out there. Mutes the sound of the 27 fender benders that were reported in our town alone!! Stay home everyone and enjoy.
And sew!!
I have managed to get a little bit done. The whole family has been sick for the last two weeks, so it has been a slow sew! I finished another scrappy star block from Terry's Treasures last SAL and I have a pile started for another one and a pile started for her current SAL.

I have also started working on this wool felt project for Di's 2013 Challenge. New things are good for you! This is my first wool project. Well unless you count the jacket I made about 30 years ago. Last time I ever tried to match plaids on a piece of clothing since I wasn't planning on ever getting rid of my "curious" kitties.

So, I was wishing we would get snowed in so that I could just stay in and stare out the window and sew. No such luck--the sun is coming out tomorrow and the warm temperatures are going to start again. Wait, you can sew quite nicely when the sun is shining!!!
OK, no excuses--I must sew!
Hope everyone is tucked inside and safe if you are in this winter storm.

Finishes--Woo Hoo!!

Even though I didn't sign up for Chooky Blues SAL, I did get caught up in the thread catcher frenzy. I even ordered the books just in case things catch my eye, but failure to finish a project around here is always an option and I don't think I could handle being dumped.
So, my first thread catcher is not really a thread catcher--it is for my sweet DH and I believe it will be call a crud catcher.

And I think it fits nicely into the airplane creating area.
I made two more--one for me and one for my mom and realized when I was working on my mom's that it would be nice to have a thread catcher because I didn't like the top stitching and had to do some serious unpicking.

And no--that is not a big old mess back in the background, it is perfectly organized piles of projects that I need to get busy on. Now I just need to perfectly organize them into a tub or something. I'll get there.
It is a super dreary day out there and DH is feeling yucky, so it maybe a good day to get a move on with the pile.
Hope you are having a creative and fun weekend.

Same Word, New Year

I was not too successful with my organzational plan last year, so here we go again!!!

So, first off some shopping

And some list making

 and some new tools

created by the boy. His very first woodworking project.
I refused to watch him using the router.

Definitely needed something for the little rulers that hide under things.

So, I have one project pretty much done.
A nice shiny (very full) shelf in the laundry closet

and a pretty good dent made in the project to do list

Got some prep work done here and even managed to pack up a cat.

So, now it is time to follow Murphy's lead and go to sleep.
Hopefully tomorrow some of those piles will start becoming projects on their way to being finished.

Storms and Stars

The house is starting to make those creaky noises that it does when the wind is blowing.
I do hope everyone is staying safe--tucked away in their homes doing some sewing.
I thought since I still have power, I should hurry up and show my scrappy star blocks.
It has been busy around here, but I have finally gotten them done.
Need to start getting ready for next month.
Wow--time is flying far too quickly.
So here there are:

I am running out of colors, so this one may be a small quilt and then I will get on to doing a really scrappy one. In the mean time I also need to finish some Christmas presents.
This one is actually all in one piece:

Now for borders and finishing!!!
Still have one more full size one to try to get done before Christmas. Time needs to slow down a bit I think.
So, off I go to teach some trig.
Everyone stay safe and dry if you are in the East and warm if you are getting the snow.

Blocks and Cuties

Seem to be spinning around here since school is back in session, but I have managed to get my scrappy star blocks done.

Purple of course, and...

... green.
These are so much fun, I just hope I don't run out of colors.
Still working on "The" quilt.
Hopefully I will be able to hold it up in one piece for you soon.
Besides, English,Government,Physics and
Trigonometry

We have been doing our

thing for the Humane Society. These cuties are at the PetsMart where we work on Tuesday afternoon.

A little Darrin burrito and not to be out cuted...

...Peppermint Patty. Hard to get her to sit still long enough to get a photo.
I would love to get a good pic of her Groucho Marx mustache over her eye, but hopefully she will have been adopted before I get another chance next Tuesday.
Well, back to English class--hope everyone is having a great Thursday!!!!

September is here!!!

But the nice cool weather is not:

Fall is definitely on my mind.  Made a few purchases to help the yum factor of the fall season.

I sadly have gotten a few more since then and have found a few dozen things that I want to do. Like this yummy one in Love of Quilting:

and this lovely piece jumped into my cart:

Yep, there is purple in there.
Of course.
And Lola came to play a couple of weeks ago and she is readier (we will go with that poor grammar) than I am.  Look at her cute little stitchery.

I am still plugging along with what I am supposed to do. Made some evil boo boo on my black and white checkerboard strips. Thought I might just rip my hair out, but I finally changed tactics and went for something easier.
So these little lovelies that are all about a 1/2 inch too long:

turned into this nice checked flag fabric that I can chop to the exact size, so hopefully I will be done with it real soon and can get on to other things.

So, lots to finish and even more on my wish list. What am I doing sitting here.
Hope everyone has a nice holiday if you are in the states and a extra special weekend if you are not.
